He's been a part of some of the biggest groups in the Sydney music scene (think CollarbonesBlack Vanilla and his own work as Scissor Lock), but Marcus Whale's just signed with Good Manners Records to release some solo stuff.

I think if anything, this is a huge out of left field release. I say that because it's one that we never expected in terms of actual release and the sound itself. There's a track Foals did to round off their album Holy Fire called 'Moon', and if you've emersed yourself in those instrumentals, you'll absolutely adore this one.

It's ambient, sombre and at the same time, so complex. It's dance but it's not dance and it's ambient but it's not ambient. This is the first official taste of what's to come (there's a full release somewhere on the horizon), and it's absolutely everything we've wanted.

It's beautiful and terrifying at the same time, but I think that's what makes this one feel so authentic. His vocals mesh perfectly with the well-considered soundscape, and there's something really calculated about the way this is put together, kind of like a Picasso piece; geometric, yet there's a hidden sense of chaos littered in amongst it all.

Marcus Whale's more than proven that he's a talented musician, but this new track is absolutely above and beyond.
