Live Review: Feel the 'Love Tonight' with SHOUSE's collab-fuelled new track

19 December 2017 | 8:22 am | Freya Dinesen

With their star-studded, euphoric new single, 'Love Tonight', SHOUSE prove they've made a space for themselves to love and be free.

Each week, we select one artist to feature as our Spotlight Artist. This week, we’ve chosen SHOUSE. For more Spotlight Artists, head here.

Melbourne electronic duo SHOUSE are closing 2017 with a bang, gifting this feel-good / summer-ready new track, ‘Love Tonight’.

SHOUSE is driven by the creative minds of Ed Service (of IO) and The Harpoons' Jack Madin, who have been active members of Melbourne’s unique electronic scene for years and collectively focus on making estranged house music while collaborating with friends and fellow music aficionados.

The pair often invite local singers and musicians to collaborate when bunkered down in their Collingwood studio in addition to showcasing local talent at their OPENSHOUSE parties, helping to cement a real sense of community while also providing fertile grounds for new ideas.

'Love Tonight' is a consolidation of this working environment, whilst being a mischievous parody and endearing homage to the classic 1980's celebrity extravaganza that was Bandaid's 'We Are The World'. The clip is made in true SHOUSE style, embodying some seriously lo-fi aesthetics as well as the cutest montage of behind the scenes studio footage.

The track itself is initially presents itself as a slow-burning number, setting the scene with a chorale of different vocalists against resounding saxophone hooks. SHOUSE assembled an all-star choir of people they love and admire in their local scene including Oscar Key Sung, Monte Morgan (Client Liaison), Bec Rigby (The Harpoons), HABITS, Pillow Pro and a whole bunch more, ultimately delivering a crew that champions unity.

After setting the scene, ‘Love Tonight’ drops into a more familiar style of track driven by crisp percussion and resilient bass lines, overladen with stellar chorus lines and more tasty sax motifs.

Adding to the amazing team vibes and choral collaboration, we've saved the best part for last: all proceeds from this track with be donated to the Domestic Violence Resource Centre Victoria - an incredibly important charity close to the hearts of all artists involved in this song.

The audio for 'Love Tonight' is due to be released this week on the 14th December so be sure to stream this baby on repeat or purchase the track to keep the good feels going round.
