Get To Know: Cult Shotta
Rapper CHARLES X and hypeman R2D2 make up rising Sydney hip-hop duo, CULT SHOTTA. Having been friends since childhood, the pair began to create based on shared influences like PHARRELL WILLIAMS, KANYE WEST and of course, 90’s hip-hop, and have since begun carving out their own path – and now people are starting to notice.
Known for their electrifying live shows and their consistently evolving output, Cult Shotta have recently levelled up with a signing to Poster Child agency, as well as a collaboration with Reese LaFlare called ‘Boomin” and a subsequent video that really cements themselves as an act to watch. There’s no doubt these recent moves will mean we’ll be seeing a whole lot more from these two, so before they well and truly blow up, we got to know them a little better.
Who are you?
Cult Shotta, the prettiest bitches on the block.
How did CULT SHOTTA come to be?
I used to make little Myspace tracks for my homies to play on their Nokia 6300’s when I was in high school (where me & Golo met). We ended we up going to fashion school together & thats when we decided we wanted to create our own wave of fashion, videos, music etc. & its just kept progressing from there.
What are we talking, vibes-wise?
Tell us a bit about your latest single, BOOMIN?
We been on Reese LAFLARE’s shit for a minute so it was dope that we got to finally link up while he was in Sydney & get him on the new single. It’s produced by the homie Von Vuai who did “No Fatigue”.
