Live Review: Polographia & Winston Surfshirt link up to make magic as Poloshirt with 'Pinned Upon'

13 June 2018 | 8:49 am | Jackson Langford

'Pinned Upon' is the brainchild of two of Australia's greatest up-and-comers and Poloshirt have cloaked it in just the right amount of natural magic.

In the grand scheme of things, both POLOGRAPHIA and WINSTON SURFSHIRT are still relatively new acts. However, that by no means has affected how impactful they've been on the Australian electronic scene. Polographia have been making a name for themselves as masters of the retro, neon-coloured, sunset electro pop, while Winston Surfshirt, and his band of the same name, absolutely took over last year with their breezy, summery approach to RnB infused pop. But now, 2018 sees the two acts officially link up to for a mini supergroup, going by POLOSHIRT, and their first offering 'Pinned Upon' is as smooth as you'd imagine.

The two standalone acts bring exactly what makes them so irresistible to the table in 'Pinned Upon', proving that Poloshirt is built on a great amount of malleability. Winston Surfshirt lends his featherlight vocals to Polographia's strutting beat. It's a song that coasts along effortlessly, and Surfshirt knows just how to ride the wave, with colours of rich orange and dusk pink splashed from start to finish.

'Pinned Upon' is the brainchild of two of Australia's greatest up-and-comers and Poloshirt have cloaked it in just the right amount of natural magic. It's a visionary song that projects neon-lit skylines and the glisten of a setting sun over a calm beach. It sees the best of both Polographia and Winston Surfshirt fuse together beautifully, and it feels like the sun is just rising on an illustrious career for Poloshirt.
