EMC hits the road with free EMC Connect workshops

22 June 2018 | 12:34 pm | Staff Writer

ELECTRONIC MUSIC CONFERENCE, aka EMC, has become one of the Australian music industry's much loved industry events. Bringing together the particular niche in the country's industry of electronic music, it's a chance to not only check out the next crop of artists who should be on your radar, but also a chance to find out the state of play for the scene on an intimate level.

Hosted every year in Sydney in November, this year, EMC are stretching their wings and taking their vital know-how on the road with a series of free workshops and panels to get to the rest of the country engaged and excited about the future of electronic music. Having already kicked off in Melbourne this week, the series (titled EMC CONNECT) aims to gather artists and industry friends in these cities for songwriting workshops for artists, a close look at the state of play in the electronic music sector and an industry consultation so they can hear direct from the community what's important, what challenges people are facing and how they might be able to assist and work together to navigate ways through a constantly changing industry.

The Brisbane edition, which features PACES and DOOLIE for the songwriting workshop, is already at capacity, but Sydney still has some remaining spots and is shaping up to be a fantastic night. Pantheon and Nyxen will be delivering the songwriting workshop while the state of play panel will see industry figures such as Ben Godding (Marketing Director, Kobalt/AWAL), Emily Collins (Deputy Chair, AMIN), Jane Slingo (Executive Producer EMC/Artist Manager), Paul Stix (Director, undr ctrl) and Poppy Reid (Managing Editor, Seventh Street Media) give their takes on where things are at for Australian electronic music. Kicking off at 6pm on June 28, the event is free to attend and you can register right HERE! Full details are below.
