"Our biggest birthday yet" - Looking back on Purple Sneakers Twelfth Birthday

18 June 2018 | 11:48 am | Staff Writer

Purple Sneakers has had the honour of celebrating our birthday as a part of VIVID SYDNEY for the past two years, and in 2018 we were so excited to be apart of the world renowned festival once again. This year, we decided it was time to make it even bigger and better, moving to fellow Sydney institution, The Lansdowne and putting together one hell of a line up - and this year, we SOLD OUT!

Across two stages, Purple Sneakers took over The Lansdowne with some of our favourite artists such as live sets from RAINBOW CHANTHANDI PHOENIXANNIE BASSCLYPSOSLIM SET and ALTA, as well as special DJ sets from DRO CAREY and LOVE DELUXE.

Of course, it wouldn't be a Purple Sneakers party without a lot of our friends on board as well, so we were thrilled to have the likes of SPORTSSANDRO DALLARMILEX DELUXEISASWYTCH DJSALL MY FRIENDS DJS joining our very own PURPLE SNEAKERS DJS: Next Generation to help bring the party vibes. We'd also love to thank our presenting partner, FBi Radio alongside VIVID SYDNEY for always supporting us and what we do!

Hundreds of punters came along to join us closing VIVID in style and we already can't wait for next year. Every single set was indicative of how strong not only Sydney’s dance scene is, but how strong nationally it is with ALTA joining us from Melbourne. Purple Sneakers exists because of our love of discovering emerging artists, and our job is a hell of a lot easier thanks to the strength of the current crop of artists doing seriously amazing things right now.

We encourage you to join our mailing list so you can be the first to find out when we announce our next event. In the meantime, keep finding out about new emerging club music with us through our website. For a full gallery and a special after-movie, stay tuned via Purple Sneakers Facebook and Instagram.

See you in 2019, Vivid!
