PREMIERE: Tia Gostelow shares stunning lyrics video for ‘Strangers’ featuring LANKS
TIA GOSTELOW is not mucking around. Since she was 16, she has consistently delivered stunning indie-pop songs that have an innate ability to get right into your feelings, tugging at your heartstrings within seconds, and she’s wasted no time in making sure everyone hears it. Having had her last four singles added to rotation on Triple J, joined the THE RUBENS on tour, received nominations at the QUEENSLAND MUSIC AWARDS, signed a publishing deal with NATIVE TONGUE and a record deal worldwide with ANTI FRAGILE while launching her own label for Australia and New Zealand in LOVELY RECORDS in just two years, I was not kidding around in saying she’s not wasting time.
Her most recent feat comes in the form of a forthcoming debut album, and from what we’ve heard from this so far, it’s no exception to how beautifully brilliant Gostelow‘s music is. Teaming up with LANKS, the pair have created a stunning new single called ‘Strangers’, and today we’re bringing you the first glimpse at the equally stunning lyric video.
Pairing the lyrics with hazy smoky images, the lyric video fits the song perfectly. Drenched in a light hue, images of flowers and bees and more writhe and flick quickly as the love song’s lyrics float gently in time. Of the single and how it came together, Gostelow said, “I had been wanting to write a love song for a little while because it’s not something I had written about before and I knew that Will had a beautiful way of writing about it without coming across as cheesy. So we just started with a beat and kept going and it felt like the most natural songwriting session I had ever done and it is probably the most excited I’ve ever been about a song.”
With her debut album just about finished, we can expect to hear a lot more from Tia Gostelow in the near future, and we honestly can’t wait. ‘Strangers’ is out now via Gostelow‘s Lovely Records label. Brisbane fans can also catch her as part of the enormous BALL PARK MUSIC and SAN CISCO show at the Riverstage (more info here).
