Kira Puru has dropped an endearing video for 'Molotov' - an ode to party animals, bad dancing, Photobooth filters and being yourself.
Multi-talented Melbourne artist KIRA PURU is impossible not to love. Not only does she put out kick-ass tracks on the reg, she also conducts herself in such an endearing and positive way. Just like us she likes to get drunk, dance like everyone is watching, and combine both of these talents in front of Photo Booth filters. Continuing her trend of incredible music videos, she's just dropped one for 'Molotov' that showcases these three things in a beautiful way.
Kira Puru has been crafting pop bops with an edge since the very start. After a handful of singles and features she truly made a name for herself in 2017 with 'Tension', a catchy and tongue-in-cheek ode to alcohol-fuelled dancefloor seduction. After two sold-out headline shows and spots with The Rubens and Vera Blue she lit up 2018 with 'Molotov', a defiant anthem to being the centre of the party. Alongside shows at Listen Out and Spilt Milk (September and November respectively) she's just dropped details of another headlining tour, hitting up Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth in November. If the clip below doesn't inspire you to buy tickets immediately, I don't know what will.
Directed by fellow multi-talented Melbournite Tanzer, the video for 'Molotov' is, frankly, a big mood. Showcasing a variety of moves and outfits, Kira Puru performs in front of a variety of stock backgrounds. In front of backgrounds including Grand Canyon, zebras and giraffes, a pool of water and palm trees, she bops around with an infectious energy that matches the track's empowering vibe. As the video goes on she gets copy pasted clones backing her up, with the ending montage featuring a kaleidoscope of Kira Puru's over a rotating background of stacks of meat, a Windows bluescreen, people crying and a lot of other confusing imagery. While essentially an ode to Adobe After Effects, the video is also a fantastic rendition of Kira Puru's idea of 'Molotov' being "an anthem for misfits and party animals."
