Live Review: SPORTS puts Sydney to the front on her breaks-heavy guest mix

Sydney DJ & producer SPORTS has had a fuckin' KILLER couple of weeks. She headed up to Newcastle for This That, supported RL Grime at his sold out Hordern Pavilion show last week, closed the ultimate early morning kickon at Club 77's Porridge AND in amongst all of this, dropped her debut single 'Professor Bitch' which we were lucky enough to premiere!

Set to be part of Of Leisure's Blue Line Steppers compilation, the twelve-track release sees the label pick some of Sydney's best established and up and comers to deliver a Sydney-centric release, celebrating the city and showcasing some of its vibrancy through sound and a 2019 day party too.

To celebrate the release of SPORTS' debut last week, we got her to jump on the guest mix for our radio show on FBi Radio! Airing last Saturday night, she jumped in the studio for a bit of a chin wag too. We chatted all things from her car breaking down on the way up to This That (she made it just in the nick of time for her set!) to reflecting on her production journey so far.

Her mixed runs in a similar vein to the Blue Line Steppers compilation - Sydney centric with a massive emphasis on careful curation. Featuring some unreleased cuts from local legends Strange Associates Human Movement and closing out with a HUGE breaks number from legend Special Request.

Check out the mix below and dial in to Purple Sneakers on FBi Radio every Saturday from 5-6pm AEDT. Tune in locally at 94.5FM, DAB+ or stream online at fbiradio.com.
