Live Review: PREMIERE: Mirrah reminds us to stop and smell the roses on 'Hold On'

22 November 2018 | 11:22 am | Caitlin Medcalf

Four years on since we last heard from Sydney artist MIRRAH and she's back with a vengeance, armed with a powerful, emotionally charged new single 'Hold On', which we're premiering here today at Purple Sneakers!

Reflecting on her debut mixtape REFLECT-I-ON and her debut EP LIFE, those releases really solidified her as a prominent voice to watch in the local hip hop community, and 'Hold On' is further proof that her evolution as an artist is exciting and original.

'Hold On' is a track about celebrating the good things in life. It's an appreciation track, taking a minute to stop and smell the roses. Singing praises to her good friends, living in the moment and love, Mirrah's voice is teeming with purpose. With words filled with such purpose, the authenticity felt by the sentiment rings true and leaves you feeling whole.

She's got an EP coming out in the near future called LOVE, and this is just a taste of what's to come from her. She's bringing back her trademark soulful touch and intensely channeling some of her influences like Erykah Badu and A Tribe Called Quest into her sound.

All in all, what's most exciting about this project is her provision of comfort and positive energy in a time when this is sorely needed.
