Miss Blanks dismisses the haters on ‘This Bitch’ with the help of Dugong Jr

Trench Records First Lady and Brisbane’s own MISS BLANKS has just dropped her latest single ‘This Bitch’, a track that explores a whole new dimension for the artist while maintaining her outspoken flair. Joining forces with Melbourne producer DUGONG JR, Miss Blanks flips the script and reclaims the word bitch as her own over a groovy G-Funk beat.

Old school vibes are brought into the 21st century on ‘This Bitch’, reinterpreting funky melodies with a modern clarity and enhanced of course by Miss Blanks‘ entire presence. Over warm chords and a chugging beat she cheekily proves why she’s bigger and better than her haters, with a sprinkling of pettiness that is more than warranted for an artist that has faced as much as she has.

Ever since she burst onto the Australian music scene, Miss Blanks has been using her music and her platform to drive important conversations around social change, and in the process has unintentionally become a scapegoat for all that she stands for. Among praise for her work and activism, she’s also faced plenty of backlash and explained that making this track helped her revalue her own position, “the song is a culmination of what my aftercare has come to look like within the parameters of the music landscape and artistic output, as well the duality of who I am.”

The downright shade of the verses over the laid back funk means this isn’t your average diss track, it’s an more an affirmation of self. As she repeats with an audible eyeroll “I hate this bitch” in the choruses over her own disgusted adlibs, she takes the word and spits it back at those who have used it against her.

Unapologetic and outspoken as ever, Miss Blanks has shared a new side of herself on ‘This Bitch’ exploring a whole new sound and a prickly vulnerability. Keep your eyes peeled for an incoming music video out soon and peep her gig dates below to see when she’ll be in your city next. You can stream or download ‘This Bitch’ by Miss Blanks featuring Dugong Jr on your platform of choice here.
