Do yourself a favour & check out these acts at Laneway Festival this year

With Laneway Festival getting bigger and bigger each year, the tastemaker festival continues to think outside of the box and book acts no one else in the country is touching right now. With a history of aptly picking up the next big thing, we’re so excited about this year’s instalment of the festival.

With a band-heavy lineup happening this year, we’ve gone and picked out a handful of electronic and vocal acts that you definitely should make the time to go see over the next couple of weeks. Take a look below!

DJDS
DJDS (or DJ Dodger Stadium) is the collaborative project of Jerome LOL and Samo Sound Boy who both co-founded the label Body High. The LA duo have kicked some major goals over the course of their career together, including contributing to Kanye West‘s 2016 record The Life of Pablo for tracks ‘Ultralight Beam’, ‘Fade’, ‘Father Stretch Pt. 1’, ‘Freestyle 4’, and ‘Low Lights’. In 2017, they produced a 17 minute extended version of their song ‘Bed’ with The-Dream for Kanye‘s Yeezy Season 5 fashion show.

And to top it all off, the duo released their debut LP Big Wave More Fire just last year too, featuring notable features like KhalidEmpress OfVic Mensa and more. Do yourself a favour and get down to see them at Laneway.

JON HOPKINS
The name JON HOPKINS is arguably one of the most influential to come out of electronic music in the last decade or so. The English producer kicked major goals last year with his stellar fifth studio record Singularity gaining love all across the globe, even reaching number one in the UK.

His live performance is exhilarating, watching him carve such intricate sounds and phrases into such different settings, his addition to the Laneway lineup is an exciting one.

RAVYN LENAE
19 year old Chicago native Ravyn Lenae has one of those voices that could stop traffic. She’s part of Smino‘s crew Zero Fatigue (who is also performing at Laneway), and last year released her EP Crush, featuring two incredibly apt collaborations with Steve Lacy.

The smoothness of the EP is pierced by her soulful vocals, and it’s this stunning delivery that makes for an incredibly memorable release. Get to know her before she blows the heck up!

TASMAN KEITH
Arguably one of the most exciting names to be coming out of hip-hop here in Australia right now is Tasman Keith. The Bowraville MC last year put out his debut 5-track EP, Mission Famous, which explores his cultural identity as a Gumbaynggirr man and speaks his truth through rhythm and sound. He delivers messages of pride and offers stories of resilience and community through song.

With a new track under his belt, we’re pumped to see Tasman perform.

MOJO x Girls Rock!
We honestly couldn’t just pick a handful of artists off the MOJO x Girls Rock! lineup that’s just recently been announced, so we’re going to just say do yourself a favour and get down to check out all of the wonderful acts featured on this bill.

If you’re in Brissy, catch some alt-pop from LALKA or some sunny rock from the likes of Major Leagues and San Mei.

Sydney! Be sure to catch the poetic sounds of imbi the girl or sing along to favourite from the likes of Alex The Astronaut and Alex Lahey.

Those in Adelaide will be treated to Middle KidsBec Stevens and a whole bunch more.
