Live Review: BRUX takes us deep down into a club wormhole on her guest mix

12 March 2019 | 12:37 pm | Caitlin Medcalf

It's been a little under a year since the ever mysterious BRUX emerged from the shadows. Kicking off the project with the thumping announcement of 'I'm Back', the track was a result of her time spent away from her home in Sydney at the prestigious Red Bull Music Academy. She was the only Aussie chosen to go over and participate in the academy, and the resultant output of her time learning and creating in such a specifically electronic environment has since resulted in a run of tracks from this project that are ultimately representative of something fresh and other.

With four originals and a couple of live shows here and there under her belt, she announced at the start of the year that she'd be heading out on tour. Kicking off on the Central Coast, along the way she's stopped off at Adelaide's Fat Controller, Canberra's UC Hub, Sydney Mardi Gras for Heaps Gay, with a couple of shows in Wollongong & Melbourne still to come.

Her latest track is 'Belong', an anthemic number that warps between occult electronica and lush vocal house to create this one big melting pot of thoughtful production and all of the magic BRUX has thus far brought to her production.

We thought it'd be sick to get her on the guest mix, and boy she delivered. Expect 20 minutes of expert mixing with a whole bunch of lush house, dirty club beats and a lil bit of hip-hop to tide you over. Take a listen below and be sure to tune into Purple Sneakers on FBi Radio each Saturday night from 5-6PM locally at 94.5FM or DAB+ or online at fbiradio.com.
