Live Review: Two People will break your heart with their 'Phone Call' clip

15 March 2019 | 3:18 pm | Caitlin Medcalf

With their debut record First Body still at the forefront of our minds, TWO PEOPLE out of Melbourne have gone and gifted us with a video clip to accompany their track 'Phone Call'. In true Two People style, the artistry captured in the clip works wholly in tandem with the mood of their single, adding an entirely new dimension to it.

Of the track, Phoebe Lou said “This is our ballad. It’s written about when Joey and I were young and dating, about nine to ten years ago now, fumbling around, finding our edges, hurting like crazy. We wanted the track to be big in size, all heart, wide and orchestral.”

And she's so right in saying that the track is big in size. As the moments tick by, each word is spoken with such conviction and you're forced to confront the feelings conveyed by Lou's voice.

The clip heartbreakingly captures the loneliness expressed in the track, with sparsity becoming central in delivering the heady lyricism visually. It's achingly impactful, and very much in stead aesthetically with everything Two People has delivered thus far.

If anything, the addition of their 'Phone Call' clip to their catalog shows such an intense awareness of themselves as artists. This project only continues to become more exciting with each coming day.
