Live Review: PREMIERE: ANGE gets deep on hazy single, 'Like I'm Crazy'

24 May 2019 | 11:01 am | Caitlin Medcalf

Back in 2012, Barcelona-born ANGE travelled to Sydney on an exchange program. During her time here, she fell in love with the town; the sights, sounds and everything in between. So much so, that she decided to officially move over here three years later in 2015.

Since making the move, she's been head down, writing a bunch of tracks and honing in on a sound that is inherently her own. We were lucky enough to premiere her debut single, 'Cuando Va A Acabar' not too long ago. The single was an important one in that she sang in Spanish, tying her heritage in with her artistry, something that pop musicians seem to be doing more and more.

She's back with a killer new single, and we've got the first taste of it right here.

'Like I'm Crazy' sees ANGE leaning more into her RnB tendencies, her smooth voice crooning atop sombre Fender Rhodes chords and a tentative percussive beat. The track showcases her vocal capabilities in all forms; downtempo, emotive and all-in. Her careful falsetto in the track's hook adds another layer of depth to it, rounding out this hazy, powerful number.

Of the track, ANGE said "'Like I’m Crazy' is a self-empowerment anthem. It talks about not caring about what people think, being your own self and embracing your crazy side. It also reflects on the idea of dependence and the struggle of being rejected, culminating in the importance of self-love and courage."
