Live Review: Bag Raiders evoke exuberance on latest single ‘Wild At Heart’ feat. Mickey Kojak

23 May 2019 | 9:43 am | Parry Tritsiniotis

Bag Raiders drop nostalgic fueled 'Wild at Heart’ featuring Sydney rising star Mickey Kojak and is a second taste of their forthcoming sophomore album.

From club slots to festival top lines, BAG RAIDERS have amassed a reputation for massive dance releases. Whether mega hit ‘Shooting Stars’ or their recently released single ‘Lightning’, the duo haven’t dropped the ball since their ARIA-nominated, self-titled debut in 2010. ‘Wild At Heart’, featuring Sydney rising star Mickey Kojak, is our second taste of their forthcoming sophomore album Horizons, due later in the year via Island Records.

Bag Raiders again return with another euphoric electronic pop inspired banger. Staggered piano chords build triumphantly beside the front mixed top line. The whispery build-up explodes into a euphoric chorus. A hard-edged saxophone, wide hitting drums and bass line give the song a sense of triumph, transporting the audience to a sense of belonging and comfort inside the blissfully ignorant instrumental. Its whirly breaks and pop inspired vocals provide for an undeniable attraction, and will be sure to inspire smiles, as equally as it does dance moves.

It is within this sense of ignorance ‘Wild at Heart’ takes full flight. It’s a tune about freedom, exuberance and having a world of potential waiting to be met. It summons a sense of nostalgia, like the night before summer starts or the feeling of submitting a final assignment. The duo explain: “Everyone knows this feeling except, perhaps, the people who are in it! So there’s some nostalgia there too. But overall we wanted this to be as exuberant and in your face as possible. It’s rude, loud and proud!"
