On the back of her viral track 'Soaked', 19-year-old Auckland teen Bene is gracing our radiowaves once again with her new song 'Evil Spider'. Her new single guarantees she is one to watch as it marks her first release since her signing to Republic Records in 2018, and it also the first track off her upcoming debut album 'Fire on Marzz' to be released next month.

Off the back of her viral track, 'Soaked', 19-year-old Auckland teen BENE is gracing our radiowaves once again with her new song 'Evil Spider'. Her new single guarantees she is one to watch as it marks her first release since her signing to Republic Records in 2018, and is also the first track off her upcoming debut record, Fire On Marzz to be out on June 28.

'Evil Spider' sees Bene personify herself as a spider trying to weave a web around a love interest. As layer upon layer is added, Bene's art takes a unique hybrid shape of indie and RnB as she sets out to deconstruct the modern era of pop music to create a landscape of her own.

Drawing influences from artists such as James Blake, Bene conceptualises diverse soundscapes and lyrical narratives that wrap listeners up in smooth materials of silken grooves, funk bass lines and of course, compelling vocals.

"'Evil Spider' is about wanting someone who's already taken" says Bene. "When writing the song, I didn’t wanna make the lyrics too obviously evil, so I thought I’d turn myself into the spider, making it a lil' lighter and making the song revolve around me weaving webs to lure the person, catch ‘em like a spider then reel them in. I remember humming ‘Incy Wincy Spider’ in the studio, which inspired the playful vibe of the song."

'Evil Spider' is a catchy, playful song that only heightens Bene's inevitable success and her road to 2019 domination. All on top of this she's performing shows in Europe and the US this June, with a visit to Australia hopefully coming very soon.
