Live Review: KLP throws a club-heavy 'Heater' into her repertoire

6 June 2019 | 12:42 pm | Caitlin Medcalf

Since leaving her post as triple j's House Party host, the party absolutely has not stopped for Sydney's KLP. She's basically done it all - had a baby, played festivals and shows around the country, released a few tracks and has very obviously had the best time doing it.

'Under The Influence' with Killian & Jo was up first a little while back, one that came together during KLP's travels. Then came 'Until I Find You', an emotive electronic beast that not only showcases KLP's vocal chops, but shows how much of a prolific producer she is.

'Heater' offers up a different kind of sound altogether, living up to its namesake by being a bonafide slapper of a track. It's one for 3am when the club is heaving, the walls are sweaty and you're already on your tenth cup of water. It's KLP in her most club-ready form, and shows another huge progression of herself as an artist.

Of the track, she said, "In the middle of Sydney summer I was struggling to get through days in the studio with temperatures closing in on late 30 degrees - I would sit in pretty much swimmers dripping in sweat but one morning the inspiration came in hot and heavy when I started a new project and smashed this out in the day. It’s fun and rowdy and I can’t wait to slam this out in the clubs."

We can't wait to slam it out in the club, either.
