Donatachi's long-awaited debut EP 'Taste' is finally here! Featuring six tracks and a whole bunch of features, the EP is out today via etcetc.

It feels like Christmas today because Sydney producer DONATACHI has finally shared his long-awaited debut EP, Taste, with us. He debuted in 2015 with 'Gold' featuring Tashka, a debut that we said "feels like it’s come from an artist who has been making beats professionally for years. It’s clean, polished and takes us listeners on a musical odyssey right from start to finish."

Looking back, the same could definitely be said of Taste, a record that oozes finesse and meticulousness. Years of practice and thought have gone into the entire Donatachi project

Every production decision and feature on the record contributes perfectly to Donatachi's highly-developed glossy aesthetic that's carried out through every aspect of his work: his imagery, video clips and every sonic aspect of the project.

The EP leads us in with previous single 'Do What I Want', featuring Melbourne's Evangeline. The queer-anthem celebrates his identity, the lyrics telling "They tell me to straighten up / but I love my curls”. Track two, 'In Love' is a sugary twist on love, with frequent collaborator Rosebud Leach lending her vocals for the saccharine-sweet pop track.

The EP's title track, 'Taste', is up next, and sees rising songwriter Genes lend her voice and songwriting prowess to this one. Staccatoed bubble stabs reminiscent of Sophie's Splice sample pack fizz away underneath her smooth vocal, the quiet tone of her falsetto chirping complementarily to the bubbly instrumental.

'Precious Metal' with Rromarin is up next, the arpeggiated instrumental hyping up her highly distinctive vocal, the two melding together for a high-energy glimmering bop. 'Crush On U' with Slayyyter sees Donatachi and the future-pop artist live out their online teenage fantasies.

And finally, we're left with 'DDR', the only track on the record to not have a feature. It's solely Donatachi from start to finish, and it's the perfect slapper to end the record in, tying in all of his external influences into one, huge amalgamation of digital ideas and genred concepts.
