Lex Deluxe packs a punch on her debut ‘A Little Giving Doesn’t Hurt’

Sydney selector and producer LEX DELUXE has today shared her debut single in ‘A Little Giving Doesn’t Hurt’. We caught up with her a little while back to chat her transition from part-time producer to full-time producer. She spoke about a few projects that are in the works, and mentioned that she’s working on a four-track EP under Lex Deluxe, so we’re bloody stoked to have the first taste of what’s to come from Lex here today.

Fusing house and techno with a sassy vocal, the track embodies the energy captured in a Lex Deluxe DJ set. More importantly, it captures the versatility she has as both a producer and selector, putting her immense musical knowledge on show here.

Opening with a dubbed-out vocal echo, it’s all haze in the opening bars, inviting us in for what’s about to be a wild ride. The percussion drives the opening minutes of the track forward, an echoed key slowly making its way to the fore as a squelchy bout of acid makes its way to the top of the track.

A shuffling breakbeat under the vocal takes us to the final drop, descending into a techno-driven chaos. It’s all about the texture of the drop, serving us layer upon layer of tech-heavy goodness.

It’s a Lex Deluxe DJ set compressed into a track. On first listen, you don’t know where this track will take you, diving through all sorts of instrumental twists and turns, exactly like a set from her. It’s all about the little surprises and intricacies, and by the end, you’re left completely satisfied.

Look out for Lex Deluxe‘s debut EP set to drop sometime in the future.

No idea where she’ll be in 10 years, but as long as she has a good record and a glass of white wine, she’ll be sweet.
