Live Review: Trust your heart before getting 'Twisted' in ALTA's new single

Leading 2019 with their frenetically ticking single 'Back On It', ALTA have given us another taste of their debut album with 'Twisted'.

Melbourne's Hannah Lesser and Julius Dawson curate the sonic motion that is ALTA. Like sowing seeds of floral blooms to enhance a gorgeous green pasture, their electronic synth-pop stature harps a delicate eloquence, woven in both the lyricism and melodies.

Leading 2019 with their frenetically ticking single 'Back On It', ALTA have given us another taste of their debut album with 'Twisted'.

With an introductory beat reminiscent of a young child wearing clanky shoes attempting Hopscotch, the age of 'Twisted' quickly matures, as a story of growth ensues.

As human beings, we so naturally crave connection with one another. At times, what we try to nurture forever, falls apart, so learning to cut ties and move forward from these disastrous affairs and mind games promotes courage and great change - the hopeful positive outcome that 'Twisted' bequeaths upon us.

Through the accompanying film clip's visual symbolism of mirrors as reflection, blossomed blooms, and the strong but sly and slippery nature of a snake toying with the persona's internal Garden of Eden, the muffled pitter patter of a distant beat and the occasional loose, solemn notes that fall allows space for reactive human emotion; whilst leaving it up to the discretion of the recipient whether they choose to leave 'Twisted's display of such a vicious cycle of mindplay, or not.

'Twisted' will appear on ALTA's forthcoming debut record, released via Melbourne imprint Soothsayer.
