Doja Cat channelled American comedian Arj Barker and confirmed that young children shouldn’t be at her shows, telling fans to “leave your kids at home.”

In case you missed it: Arj Barker made headlines this week after asking a mother to leave his show at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival after her baby cried in the theatre. During his performance last week, Barker asked a mother in the audience, Trish Faranda, to leave as her crying baby was “ruining his train of thought,” via the ABC.

Revealing that he felt bad about the incident and offered her a refund, Barker added, “On behalf of the other 700 people there who had paid to see the gig, I politely told her the baby couldn't stay.”

Faranda said about the incident, “I was prepared to leave if I felt like she [the baby] was impacting on other people. It was more how it went down, if you know what I mean.”

She added, “He could have just, off mic, said ‘you know it's really disrupting me, do you mind?’ And I would have happily packed up and gone.”

The headline-making situation led to Faranda's feature on The Project this week. In an ironic turn of events, the hosts asked if her partner could hold the baby as the crying was disrupting the interview.

Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter) yesterday, the Agora Hills rapper also proclaimed that her concerts aren’t a safe space for young children.

In her first tweet, Doja Cat wrote, “idk what the fuck you think this is but i don't make music for children so leave your kids at home motherfucker”.

In a follow-up post, she got a little cruder, writing, “im rapping about cum why are you bringing your offspring to my show”.

The last post saw her write, “rappin about eatin dick and pissin on his v-cut, leave your mistake at home*”. After a fan responded, “Agree bringing kids to your show is not a good choice, but calling your fans’ children a mistake is so rude”, Doja Cat swiftly replied, “It’s fucking hilarious.”

Earlier this year, Doja Cat took out the triple j Hottest 100 of 2023 with her smash-hit Scarlet single, Paint The Town Red.

She narrowly beat out G Flip, who came in at #2 with The Worst Person Alive, and broke two Hottest 100 records in the process – not only are they now the highest-charting non-binary artist in the countdown’s history, but they’re the most-voted with seven entries in this year’s list (Be Your Man came in at #22, followed by Good Enough at #24, Rough at #26, Australia at #50, Real Life at #66 and 7 Days at #80).
