The Vasco Era Star In Ballarat Movie Night

13 July 2011 | 10:36 am | Staff Writer

The Vasco Era are heading to Ballarat to party at this month's Purple Sneakers Presents: Movie Night

Melbourne’s own Kings of Blues THE VASCO ERA will be bringing the party to Movie Night this month. The boys made a break through with their debut album ‘Oh we do like to be beside the Seaside’ back in 2007, and have been on a whirlwind tour across the globe since, without ever looking back. They have helped out some of the biggest acts in the game and doing support shows for the likes of Wolfmother, Placebo, The Black Keys, Gomez, The Violent Femmes and You Am I, they now have their eyes on the prize and are set to tear the roof off at Movie Night, with their uniquely hypnotic and quirky spin on blues infused rock. This is one party you don’t wanna miss!

RICK MORANIS OVERDRIVE is the Garage-Punk-Band duo of local Ballarat Boys Gaz and Kreg. The pair met at Meredith and confessed that they 'spat alot of shit at each other' and decided it would be a funny idea to book a gig with a band they formed on the spot called w(anchor)s...

Sunday morning came and before long, the duo realised the gravity of the situation and that they had to fill a spot for the gig they had booked the previous night whilst under the influence.  Countless emails, texts and calls, several berocca's and 10 band name changes later, the boys had created the fast-paced band known as 'Rick Moranis Overdrive' that the local scene has come to love so much!

King-Pins of the local scene THE MIMES might have only been formed in October last year, but in their short career, they have already built up a loyal following of party-goers and have been making some massive waves in a small pool. Already gaining notoriety for putting on an insanely fun and energetic live show, the self-confessed party boys are all about ‘dancing and having fun on stage’ and finding a healthy mix between music styles both new and old, and drawing influences from a range of acts from The Beatles right through to Mike Patton, so bring your dancing shoes!
