1 August 2011 | 2:35 pm | Staff Writer

Ahead of their 'Summer is Coming to an End' tour, we asked the boys from The Cairos a few questions

Ahead of their 'Summer is Coming to an End' tour, we got the boys from The Cairos to dish on the worst things about touring, what getting signed to Island Records means for them and exactly what they got up to last night...

Your tour, ‘Summer is Coming to an End’ kicks off in August. We’ll let the fact you got the current season wrong slip….but what are you looking forward to most about Summer?

The wild women, the rippin and the tearin, the rippin and the tearin. - pun intended

What’s the best and worst part about going on tour as a group of 4 mates?

The worst part of touring is definitely having no money. You can't do anything without money like drink beer, chicken parmas, nice beds or even just beds/ fuel money, brand name deodorant...you know all the important shit

The best part is that we get to go all over the country together playing in all sorts of shows, meeting all sorts of people, record in all sorts of studios and getting all sorts of free shit

You’re playing at one of our events LAST NIGHT in Sydney on the 12th August – so tell us boys, what did you get up to last night? ;)

Well we recorded our next release in Sydney recently and 3/4ths of the band had our birthdays away from all our friends so we had quite a celebration last night, doing this answer hungover is our reward!

Getting signed to Island Records must be a huge buzz. Congratulations! What does this mean for The Cairos?

It means when we go to family lunches were not looked down upon anymore as the 'lost ones'

When can we expect a debut album?

We'd love to be doing it as soon as possible.. I guess its up to how well this EP goes for us. these are pros and cons in signing our lives away...

Brisbane has a great music scene at the moment with bands like DZ Deathrays, The Dune Rats and Velociraptor getting lots of attention both here and internationally. Can give us the inside tips on who else we should be listening to?

There are plenty of great bands coming out of Brisbane. We listen to Gung Ho a lot as well as Millions, Shady Bliss, and Galaxy are great too!
