Live Review: WATCH: M83 'Reunion' Teaser + Remixes EP Announced
The dreamy sounds of M83 have been remixed in an EP, featuring Mylo, Sei A, and The Naked and Famous, breathing new life into great songs.
Hey, remember when everyone was losing their shit over M83? You know, the guys who came out to Australia for this year’s Laneway festival, sold out almost all of their sideshows, kicked a local band off the tour for inhaling nitrous oxide on stage, and blew everyone away with their electric live performances?
Well, it turns out that the musical juggernaut that is M83 is still alive and kicking, with the announcement of a new music video for ‘Reunion’ and an accompanying remix EP being released across May.
Although the clip is still yet to be released, the remix EP is out. And it’s safe to say it’s one of the most exciting line-ups of producers we’ve seen on one release in a while, as it contains 6 exclusive remixes. These span a number of different genres, not unlike the band themselves, and are provided by disco king Mylo, the genre-bending We Have Band as well as Sei A, Polly Scattergood, White Sea and our own The Naked And Famous.

Mylo spearheads the EP with his trademark funky synth bass lines and beats cleverly weaved into the spaced-out original vocal track, to create a contradiction of sounds that somehow results in a perfectly ambient and atmospheric club track.
Sei A is an up and coming producer based in Glasgow and has recently been hailed as one of the most exciting producers in the techno-house scene. He has given 'Reunion' a taste of the industrialism that is currently flooding the clubs of his homeland through a loop filled minimalistic mix.
And favourites The Naked And Famous' remix dares to be slightly different (who woulda thunk it?). The band rebuilds the track through their own instruments, creating an electronic cacophony of synths, guitars and drums, much like the way M83 perform live.
All in all, it’s a solid EP, one that provides some refreshment to one of the highlight tracks from last year’s double album, Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming. You know, before you go back to having it on repeat for days on end.
