GIG REVIEW: Devin

6 June 2012 | 3:00 pm | Staff Writer

Devin is not only a babe, he is a fucking brilliant musician and an amazing performer. See what you missed if you didn't go.

Rock and roll is said to have died alongside Elvis, but DEVIN is bringing it back in style! Until a month ago DEVIN was still relatively unknown to me and I wasn't sure if all the hype buzzing around him was worth it. The sleek New Yorker went on a swift Australian tour after the success of his Masochist album release, and it seemed as if every music industry rep on the east coast came along. The front row was crowded with cameras, snapping away as he sang.

For those who've seen him before, you won't be surprised to hear that he absolutely killed it. I was convinced; he deserves all the coverage he's been receiving. The music was phenomenal. It's been a long time since I've walked away from a concert wishing I could go back in time just so I could relive the experience. He was all that was asked of him and more and everyone wanted him, women and men alike.

He reeked of hot sex and wax, and every woman in the audience would have made sweet love to him on the stage. The rock and roll niche had attracted a large number of over-35s - pure hot MILFs - who kept calling out sexually inappropriate comments that you don't ever want to hear from someone old enough to be your mother.

There’s something to be said about a great performance on top of great music. Sure, a band can produce a killer rift and stare at the ground and be too cool for school and everyone will love it because it’s great music. But when you have a guy giving it everything he has, and grooving along to the whole performance, you fucking want to go on the journey with him. And DEVIN definitely delivered a whole performance; you felt the grit of his teeth as he ground out the lyrics, you tasted the sweat pouring down his forehead and were happy for it to lightly spray over you (or maybe that second part was just me).

Keeping with the rock theme, DEVIN rocked a pair of itty-bitty super tight black jeans and a retro collar shirt. It was definitely in line with the Elvis rock and roll vibe, but why the fuck not when you do it better (yeah I said it) and can put on a killer set.

If I had to rate it, I'd give it a 10/10.
