Live Review: LISTEN: The Griswolds ‘Heart Of A Lion’

14 June 2012 | 10:30 am | Staff Writer

The Griswolds capture hearts again with new the new synth heavy, Brit Pop influenced track ‘Heart Of A Lion.’

We are back with another track from the band that stole my heart with their name and my direct obsession with Chevy Chase circa 1984.

A cheeky tap, tap, tap of the drumsticks starts THE GRISWOLDS new track, ‘Heart Of A Lion’ that just can’t help but make you smile at the possibility of this song. Those few little raps of wood don’t disappoint as the track explodes into your ears like a bursting balloon, filled with confetti. ‘Heart Of A Lion’ has rolling drums and bass and the band seem to call upon the Gods of Brit Pop as the vocals kick in and leave you breathless in its wake.

The song is about a man called Steve Levene, “the CEO of cheap assholes and petty woes”, although The Griswolds aren’t cheap with the thrills they bring in the breakdown that hits the pleasure nerve in the brain as synth adds a creamy centre to the tune.

The Griswolds hit it out of the park once again following their track, ‘Mississippi’ and just seem to maintain that tricky mixture of cheekiness, fun and raw talent.

Listen to ‘Heart Of A Lion’, and always remember to get your injections- it’s a jungle out there.
