Beach Fossils Announce Australian Tour

15 July 2012 | 3:00 pm | Tom Hutchins

We have seen so many amazing Lo-Fi acts hit Australian shores over the last 12 months, and now we can another to that list - Beach Fossils.

The genres of Lo-Fi, Surf-Rock, Shoegaze, Psychedelic etc etc etc seem all too common these days. With there being almost as many new acts of this ilk emerging into the scene as there are Indie-Pop acts.

But of course, there are shining stars within these genres and luckily for us as punters, a lot of them have managed to get themselves to Australia in the last 12 months. We've seen acts such as Real Estate, Wavves, Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti and Unknown Mortal Orchestra all gracing festival stages as well as band rooms, and today we can now add another act to that list - BEACH FOSSILS.

We have to thank the awesome people at Popfrenzy for bringing the band out for the first time ever this October, but also to the guys behind This Is Nowhere Festival, who snapped up the 4-piece for their first (amazing) Lineup announcement and thus starting this process. The Brooklyn based shoegaze act have been together since 2009, have one Self-Titled full length as well as an EP to their name and are currently signed to taste-making America label Captured Tracks/Popfrenzy in Australia - which ain't no small feat.

The distortion filled tunes of their debut LP have been some of our favourites for the last couple of years, and with a new album due out later this year. It seems like the perfect time for the Fossils to bring their incredibly melancholic and psychedelic tunes to our shores, to help bring us all that little bit closer to summer.

Now we just have to wait for that inevitable Ducktails tour... It'll happen eventually, right?

And mainly because we can't wait till October to see those pretty faces, here's a clip for Beach Fossils' most recent single 'Adversity' from last years' What A Pleasure EP.
