So HOMEBAKE has traditionally been a festival about showcasing strictly domestic acts: Australian bands playing for a rabble of music-loving Aussies. But this year they've done it a little bit differently...Oh yes, they've gone and made this a little bit "global." The usual homegrown line-up is almost intact. But with one important and fairly awe-inspiring addition: BLONDIE. Yup. Debbie Harry down under. That phrase is a little catchy, yeah? Don't worry, people will start using it real soon and you'll remember you heard it here first.
The rest of the line-up continues to exploit our minor obsession with '80s nostalgia, with a mix of some of our favourite up-and-comers, honorary Australians, and ever-successful and ever-beloved indie acts from the '90s and '00s. Plus comedy from the Sydney Comedy Festival and short films curated by Kieran Darcy Smith (Two Hands, Animal Kingdom, Wish You Were Here). You can see Tim Minchin. Yeah!
So to celebrate the start of summer and yes, the end of the world, we'll be heading down to The Domain on December 8. We're keen for market stalls, international food, roving performers and art. Art art art. Party party party.
