REVIEW: Melodys Echo Chamber Self Titled LP
Okay, so I’ve been asked to write the new self titled, Melodys Echo Chamber record, so here we go.. [presses play]… oh man I feel so sick and my hearing is fucked, I need a high pass filter cut on life at the moment..
Also doesn’t help i’m listening to this through my mac speakers… Hold on I’m going to go get head phones. Alright, that’s heaps better, now let’s do this… [presses play again]
Opening track I Follow You is so soothing, I could actually listen to this forever, with summer on the horizon, this one is going to be gracing the record player for sure!
Second track Crystallized is phased out of this world! female tame impala space rock, There is a lovely melancholy here that nestles itself between the sonic waves of the fuzz, almost sounds like real waves breaking upon a shore.
Some Time Alone Alone This is really lovely, spacious, fuzzy and raw. Prochet’s vocals really shine, having the ability to blend into the swirling mix or cut through allowing you to melt under each and every gorgeously articulated syllable.
This record is SO good! From blown out psychedelia to garage rock, this record resinates the bedroom / D.I.Y recording vibe with the highest of clarity with regards to production, that’s where this guy comes in… Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker his finger prints all over this gem… The spacious reverbed melodies, the swirling synths and oscillating ring modulators that pan through your mind, Ms. Prochet couldn’t have chosen any better! Knowing that Mr. K. Parker helped record and mix this record, you really begin to hear how his hand has helped MEC achieve their intergalactic sound, it’s a glorious sound!
Bisou seems to rise and rise, this constant crescendo draws you in, as the dream where you are chasing that perfect pair of lips, night after night you float endlessly through another world of fantasy, chasing the lips that you once saw only to catch them and be awakened by a kiss.
Ender Be Proud of Your kids has a serious Beatles sound and vibe. Okay, okay… I’d go through every track on this record but I could write for days about them. What I will say though is that every single track on this record is so ridiculously good and after listening to this record I feel so much better! My cold actually seems to be leaving. Maybe it has something to do with Prochet’s sweet french lyrics.. or maybe it’s the instrumentation, arrangement and production? Well whatever it is, when all is put together it creates one blissful record! I wouldn’t be surprised if this record hits the top ten. Melody’s Echo Chamber are a band to be watched!
Check it out for yourself a.s.a.p. this record is a must, it’s definitely going to be apart of my summer playlist that’s for sure.
Also if you happen to read this Melody, just followed you on tumblr, beautiful blog if I do say so.
