Live Review: WATCH: Boomgates 'Whispering Or Singing' (Official Video)

EDDY CURRENT SUPPRESSION RING. DICK DIVER. TWERPS. TEEN ARCHER: all bands that have had me evangelising crazily about Australian music to anyone who’d listen. And anyone who wouldn’t. 

So you can imagine my pants-peeing joy when I found out there was a band that combined members of all these acts into a glorious anti-supergroup.

This band is BOOMGATES, and they’ve released a video to their track Whispering or Singing, which has the trademark jangle of Twerps and Dickdiver, amped up with a bit of EDDY CURRENT SUPPRESSION RING ferocity.

The video has the bands performing the track frantically in the lounge room of a graceful older lady as she goes about her daily business (such as showering and making tea with a healthy wack of whiskey).

This song itself is preoccupied with the mundane, and the video highlights this while still being interesting and watchable.

Steph Hughes and Brendan Huntley are especially charismatic here, and the push and pull of their opposite performance styles adds an extra layer to the story.
