WIN: Naysayer & Gilsun / Collarbones Tix

9 October 2012 | 9:00 am | Tom Hutchins

Collarbones and Naysayer & Gilsun are teaming up to play a Co-Headline show in Sydney this Friday. And we have tickets for you to get your dirty hands on.

Two of our favourite Electronic acts at the moment are COLLARBONES and NAYSAYER & GILSUN. So it’s pretty convenient that they are also currently two of the most in demand acts our fine country has to offer.

What might even be more convenient is that both these acts are teaming up to play a Co-Headline show in Sydney this Friday. We just need to figure out who it’s more convenient for, us or you.

Yes, you definitely heard that right. Collarbones and Naysayer & Gilsun are teaming up to present a night of beats, visuals and sensual dance moves and you better believe that this is a one-off special event. The show comes as a cross over of two different tours. Collarbones who are in the process of launching their sophomore album, Die Young; and Naysayer & Gilsun who are taking their unbelievably popular NGTV series to another level.

It’s no surprising why this is a big deal, or why both acts are such big deals at the moment. The half Sydney, half Adelaide based duo, Collarbones have been going from strength to strength in recent times, as their aforementioned new LP is being heralded as Australia’s best Electronic release in years. The album, which was written over the course their 2011 touring schedule, was inspired by recollections of teen crushes - the naive, vulnerable yearning at the heart of adolescent experience. And overall emerges as a soundtrack of jilted R&B instrumentals in a tribute to youthful desire.

On the other side of the fence, Naysayer & Gilsun, have been on a war path since they released their first instalment of NGTV - an audio/visual experience with a difference. NGTV relies less on instantly recognisable samples and more on aesthetic coherence; some of the most eclectic Electronic and dance music from across the spectrum meshes and interacts with remixes of dreamy, youthful and vibrant film sequences. They Melbourne duo have taken their feature-length AV set from packed bandrooms in Melbourne to major festivals including Golden Plains and Groovin' The Moo and are now on the road again in support of an EP of original music that is to be released later in the year.

Joining the headliners will be the brother/sister duo, Gnome. An act featuring half of Pop experimentalists Kyu, they effortlessly weave classical and world music with Glitch based Electronica. And rounding out this already massive bill are Astral People DJs and CANT SAY’s own residents – Acolyte.

So come down and party like you would in your bedroom while listening to Beyonce and jumping on your bed.
