It’s a record label, touring agency, management group and now most recently a stage at Laneway Festival – the Future Classics collective will be bringing a taste of what’s new, well loved and home-grown to its own stage in 2013.

That means you can soak up their forward-thinking electronica without having to navigate your way across tents or tactfully sorting out clashes with fellow festival attendees.

The label’s worked previously with names you might be more than familiar with – New Navy, Flight Facilities, Mitzi, Mount Kimbie and Toro Y Moi among others who call Australia home, yet have an international reach.

To celebrate the launch, Future Classic has put together a Laneway-themed mixtape to keep us patient until February. It lasts just over an hour with a chilled vibe that is strangely Zen while also conjuring up summer parties into the night. It’s one to lie back and relax with – take it to the beach, meditate, background music, whatever, just get familiar with some of the fresh names before catching them live.

The mixtape kicks off with Brooklyn-based High Highs soft expressive sound, before bringing in 2012 star favourites such as Flume and Chet Faker, and signing off with a chilled-off vibe once more from England’s Jessie Ware. Also, check out super-soulful tracks ‘Places’ or more sombre ‘Parallel Lines’.

Tickets for Laneway are now on sale HERE with gigs at major capital cities
