Live Review: WATCH: Lana Del Rey 'Bel Air' (Official Video)

15 November 2012 | 1:30 pm | Rebecca McCann

The video LANA DEL REY's 'Bel Air' is eery, unsettling and kind of sickly. It wouldn't be a Lana video without a dose of the singer's own goth-glam though.

The video for the latest LANA DEL REY single is eery, unsettling and kind of sickly. A song with 'gargoyles' in the lyrics should have such a video though, shouldn't it?

Out of a fog of Ghostbuster-green smoke, the beautiful singer emerges, long hair blowing with the force of a wind machine. Sorry, an atmospheric breeze. Other lyrics include "Don’t be afraid of me/ Don’t be ashamed/ Walk in the way of my soft resurrection". Cheese factor turned up just a tad too high? Mayhaps.

Aside from a pretty piano intro that would not sound out of place on the soundtrack of a Twilight film (wouldn't be surprising if it was written with this in mind), the song doesn't hold a candle to other DEL REY tracks - 'Ride' off the same EP included.

The song doesn't really go anywhere aside from the vaguely gothic stylised form of glamour, which the singer is known for. The video doesn't really go anywhere either, but is worth the watch if want to stare some more at the songstress' luscious long locks and intent, meaningful gaze.
