Live Review: Top 10 New Years Eve Countdown Tracks

31 December 2012 | 12:00 pm | Hannah Story

Hannah makes your New Years Eve a little bit easier with this psych dance playlist. HAPPY NEW YEAR.

Now that we've all survived the apocalypse, it's about time we got into New Years mode. We're going to keep you on your toes. This is no time to stick to any one genre. That's ludicrous. You've got to mix it up- with songs that get you dancing, party anthems, and a strong Australian focus. Why not pepper your New Years Eve with the sounds of your city, of your country.

So put a hand over your heart, stand poised in front of the TV and the images of Australian icons lit up, and play these tunes all night long- preferably until you barf (that's how you know you've had too much to drink, you see).

'King of the Beach'- Wavves

If you happen to be spending your New Years on a beach, this ought to be your party anthem. It's an oldie but a goodie.

'212'- Azealia Banks

I unashamedly love to dance to this song in the club. There is no doubt this will be on the playlist if you hit up town on December 31.

I'm not saying that you take drugs or anything, but if it was something a bit stimulating, this could be fun.

'Conquest' - The White Stripes

All about the trumpet and the shameful singing along. No one can hit those notes.

'Paper Planes'- M.I.A.

'All I want to do is GUN SHOT GUN SHOT GUN SHOT GUN SHOT and CASH REGISTER NOISE and take your money.' I dare you to not dance to this. It's impossible.

'Kool Thing' - Sonic Youth

Uhm, it wouldn't be my playlist if Sonic Youth weren't involved. Thems the breaks.

'Elephant' - Tame Impala

Another for the spaceheads among us. Alternately you could just listen to Lonerism in its entirety. That works too.

'L.E.S. Artistes' - Santigold

Copy the dance moves in this video. Regret nothing.

'Lupine Dominus'- Thee Oh Sees

Take this opportunity to dance enthusiastically. Seriously. They're well groovy.

'Thrift Shop' - Macklemore

I couldn't resist.

HAPPY NEW YEAR, BITCHES.
