Live Review: WATCH: King Krule 'Octopus' (Official Video)
18 year old Archy Marshall - known under the moniker King Krule (formerly Zoo Kid) - has just released the clip to his track 'Octopus'.
“I wonder why I have such bleak idols” muses KING KRULE aka Archy Marshall in The Fly magazine. Interestingly enough, the gangly 18 year old nocturnal highflyer has encountered the London underbelly and also had a heroin dealer as his best friend.
Perhaps such bleakness leaks into video for his track 'Octopus'. Released last year, 'Octopus' is bursting with his melting pot of influences, full of haunting, hypnotic synths, brooding vocals, fragile flecks of guitar, some swinging saxophone and exotic beats.
The video, directed by Paraic and Michael Morrissey sucks us into its beautiful surrealism, swathed in pulsating red lights and a naked woman in a bathtub decked out in a deep sea diving helmet, rocking back and forth in black water. Krule is seen pacing, suited up, smoking like a chimney and possibly well equipped for an impending mid-twenty something crisis- every bit the soulful crooner.

Swankiness aside, King Krule is nevertheless every bit a young punk. “There’s something about being the underdog, when you’ve got all the raw emotion. Then I think fuck you you’re old and I’m fucking 18 and I’m fucking you up with this shit.”
