21 June 2013 | 11:47 am | Lauren Payne

With news of Parklife being no more, we felt it appropriate to reflect on the festival's past eleven running years for this week's Flashback.

We were sad to hear the news that as of 2013, PARKLIFE in Australia will become a thing of the past. We decided now would be a good time to take a stroll down memory lane and explore some of our favourite sets from the event's 11 year history.

The decision to scrap the festival came from festival promoters FUZZY shortly after the announcement that UK boys DISCLOSURE had confirmed a Parklife appearance, so what's happens now? A new venture called Listen Out will be Parklife's replacement. Being showcased at some smaller venues around the country, Listen Out is going to be a festival featuring dance artists from all walks of life.

Well now I believe it's time to look back on the festival that is now no more, and the performances that made it so god damn great! It's always saddening when a big event is cancelled like this, Parklife you will be missed.

TAME IMPALA (2012)

TAME IMPALA definitely have the longevity of their performances down pat as these guys don't actually take breaks between their tracks, they just keep playing. PARKLIFE 2012 had the the boys play to a relaxed and enthusiastic evening crowd, where good vibes flowed and sing-a-longs were plenty.

SIMIAN MOBILE DISCO (2011)

SIMIAN MOBILE DISCO killed it at Parklife 2011. Their opening track built itself up with some really smooth mood lighting before the lights burst into a violent red and the crazy electronic beats began to echo throughout the audience.

Although most electronic artists don't get the chance to move as much as other bands, their music tends to create an energetic atmosphere that you sometimes don't get from bands.

JUSTICE (2012)

Dance duo JUSTICE travelled to Parklife in 2012 and just blew everyone away. With an awesome night performance, the boys were able to use an amazing light show to accompany their set and become one of the most energetic and exciting acts of the event.

Playing the hit tracks that we've all come to love provoked some pretty crazy singalongs. JUSTICE are one of the most entertaining electronic acts to witness live, so having them play at Parklife helped the festival get the great reputation it now has.

THE PRESETS (2012)

THE PRESETS, one of Modulars most popular acts took over Parklife in 2012 when they took to the stage. With years of experience the band have under their belt, they are undoubtedly masters of their craft.
