The talented team at PONCHO TV have come up with something new for their music savvy internet audience, today they launched the first episode in a new series taking aim at broadcasting live performances in an intimate studio setting.

It's called ABABCd and is a monthly show to be released through the PONCHO TV website, produced in collaboration with the Australian College Of Arts, and sponsored by cool guy clothing label Ben Sherman.

Host and head honcho of Poncho (ryhmes!), Nick Clarke, recently told The Vine that ABABCd is:

"A studio-based live music program in the style of Later… With Jools Holland but with bizarre intermissions". And now that Episode 1 is live, we can definitely agree with that sentiment.

Opening the first instalment of the series with a tiny monologue, Clarke explains it a little further,

"It's an independent online music show. You'll hear three acts performing one song each, in the space of about 15 minutes... The acts on ABABCd will generally reside under the broad umbrella of Alternative. You may be familiar with some, others you may not of heard of before."

The first episode showcases three of Melbourne's most popular up and coming acts; Alpine, Forces and The Murlocs, taking centre stage with some extremely solid performances.

It's not a complex premise but it's one that has not yet been seen in Australia, giving live music fans a chance to check out the best live music the country  has to offer all from the comfort of their computer chairs. It although it's missing a fair chunk of the cheeky / comedic side of regular Poncho programming, it still keeps with the very DIY aesthetic we love them for.

Stay up to date with ABABCd and the rest of the teams brilliant ramblings over at PONCHO.TV.
