We'd like to introduce you to South Africa's version of DAS RACIST, in the form of three guys who are PHFAT. Opening for PUBLIC ENEMY at The Assembly back in 2010, the boys have been climbing up the charts in their home country in leaps and bounds and by god it's wonderful.

Three years have now passed and after two digital releases and over 235 shows later, PHFAT have now started breaking out overseas and we here at PURPLE SNEAKERS are proud to announce the Australian premiere of PHFAT's track 'House Of Clashes'.

We are bringing you 'House Of Clashes' in the form of a crazy new music video that draws inspiration from traditional surrealist films. The surrealist art house genre is paired with  lo-fi aestethics by director Travys Owen to create this weird, yet wonderful piece of imagery. The opposing combinations of gore and beauty were a strong focus on the clip whilst Owen also channelled jarring composition and some off-kilter portraiture.

A bottle of Jager pouring its contents onto a pure white floor, an eye on a tongue, some real freaky head jerking making the boys seem almost possessed, all of this shot in black and white with smoke engulfing PHFAT as they bash out those lyrics. It's definitely a visual delight, and if you're unfamiliar with a lot of surrealist films, hopefully this clip will teach you a little bit about it and will enlighten you. The whole thing is sublime using such a timeless genre to premiere such a powerful track.

Now when I say it's a powerful track, I mean it will come at you like a breeze block of pain and hit you in the face with a hammer. 'House Of Clashes' mixes some very aggressive lyrics with jagged electronic melodies that just seem to work together to attack your eardrums.

The lyrics and the beat are fantastic and honestly you don't hear much rap music like this around town much, PHFAT have a unique operation here their electronic melodies are cut frequently and their rap is pretty smooth and polished, these guys have worked their butts and it really shows.

PHFAT are releasing Happiness Machines on July 22 and 'House Of clashes' is the first music video to be taken from the album, which will be available to download from their website. 'House Of Clashes' is also available as a free download from PHFAT's Soundcloud, a complimentary treat for all their new friends overseas.
