DU TONC are a two-piece dynamic duo comprised of Matt Van Schie (VAN SHE) and MIGHTY MOUSE. Although the group comprises of two rather accomplished musicians, DU TONC are fairly new, with their first single, ‘Darkness’, released in early 2013.

This has not stopped them from a lot in a very short amount of time. With a rather successful Soundcloud featuring hundreds of thousands of plays, and a few music videos under their belt, the result is a bout of endless touring. Their success is largely due to their infectious combination of vocals, catchy riffs and a masterly application of layering on their tracks.

DU TONC’s third single, ‘Rise’, definitely makes obvious the disco input from Mighty Mouse being woven in with the rhythmic melody crafted by the duo. The ever-infectious track is accompanied by a rather eclectic video. Drawn together by an 80’s-esque setting, we see an array of street performers dancing the night away.

A tinge of darkness amongst the scenes creates an almost sinister feel, particularly when the woman alone in the forest experiences some unusual feelings. This darkness seems to carry throughout, and is only blurred by the blinding sharpness of the neon city.

A combination of the textbook nightlife, couple dilemmas, neon lights and some crafty film techniques sees the perfect accompaniment to such a sophisticated track.
