Today THE NATIONAL take their success story one step further. By announcing their largest Australian tour EVER. Can I get a hell yeah everyone??

It's only been a month since the band headlined a night at this year's Splendour In The Grass, but it seems they can't get enough of us down under. As thanks to Handsome Tours, the seminal 5-piece act will be here very early February of next year.

The 5 date tour may not seem that big, but in addition to shows at Thebarton Theatre in Adelaide, Sidney Myer Music Bowl in Melbourne, The Riverstage in Brisbane and the Belvoir Amphitheatre in Perth; The National will also play the Sydney Opera House Forecourt. Why is this so special, you ask? Because it's going to be the first contemporary music show to be held by the Harbour in nearly three years.

So to put in simply. Big band, with big albums, playing big songs, at some of Australia's biggest venues and playing the first Opera House Forecourt show in years. Get it? It's going to be HUGE.

Talking of the bands Sydney show, Ben Marshall, Head of Contemporary Music at Sydney Opera House, said, “The National are one of the truly great bands of the modern era and I've wanted to present them here since arriving at the Opera House. It's especially wonderful this is both the first announcement of a contemporary music concert on the Forecourt steps in nearly three years, and is happening off the back of The National's most successful album yet.”

“Hearing their incredibly mesmerising and moving music on the Opera House steps in the middle of summer is going to be one of the events of the year, an unforgettable Sydney moment much like Crowded House's Farewell to the World and Massive Attack's rare appearance in 2010.”

It will also be the first headline dates for The National in Australia since 2010, when they toured the brilliant High Violet. And will follow on from their most successful album so far, Trouble Will Find Me, as well as the exceptional documentary - Mistaken For Strangers.

Tickets are on sale Tuesday, November 12, 9am and will most likely head out the door extremely fast. So get in early, watch out for scalpers and fingers crossed we'll see you there!
