YUCK Announce Sophomore LP, 'Glow & Behold' + Drop 'Middle Sea'

21 August 2013 | 8:14 pm | Tom Hutchins

Yuck are finally back in the news because of their music - and it comes in the form of their sophomore album announcement.

Over the last 12 months, YUCK have managed to keep themselves in the spotlight, even though they weren't releasing new music or touring. This week however, they're finally back in the news because of their music - and it comes in the form of their sophomore album announcement.

After a stunning debut album in 2011, Yuck immediately were at the forefront of the now much more subdued genre of Shoegaze. They were seen as the band to bring it all back, all the popularity and appeal Shoegaze held in the 90's, thanks to this 4-piece British band. Sadly, in the midst of all the touring and success, the band's lead vocalist Daniel Blumberg decided to leave the band, in order to focus on his own musical creations.

Suddenly, it all seemed like it was over.

But luckily for all of us, the remaining members of Yuck decided to keep the band going as a 3-piece and glow and behold, the band are now on the brink of releasing their highly anticipated sophomore LP, Glow & Behold. (see what we did there?).

The album will be the first time Yuck will release anything through Caroline in Australia and it will be available for us on Friday 11th October.

Produced by Chris Coady (Beach House, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, TV On the Radio), Glow & Behold, demonstrates an impressive step forward in the bands musical mindsets, (especially since the vocal duties have been passed onto Max Bloom). Creating an album that is as mature, thought provoking and emotionally charged as it is immediately irresistible and insanely anthemic. They may be wondering down a slightly different road now, but we feel that this new album will be as critically acclaimed and globally adored as their eponymous first album.

To coincide with this announcement is the release of 'Middle Sea'. The effervescent pop styled track follows on on from the gorgeously swirling and aptly titled previous single, 'Rebirth' (which will also appear on the LP). The track brings the now frontman, Bloom's, beautifully evocative vocals to the forefront, demonstrating all the work that he has done for his new role.

It's just a small taste of the galvanizing alt-rock anthems we expect to see on Glow & Behold, and already all the doubts that sprung up when Blumberg left have surely dissipated. We're all too enchanted by the spell that only Yuck can cast.
