Live Review: LISTEN: Grimes 'Skin' (Four Tet Remix)

London-based legend FOUR TET has let slip a whole bunch of previously unreleased track via his twitter, in true white-label fashion. Among those tracks was this particularly shining example of how good FOUR TET is at remixing.

In case you haven't figured it out yet, the remix track in question is 'Skin' by the wonderfully lovely and exceptionally talented singer/songwriter/producer/tumblr-activist/part-time vegan known as GRIMES.

FOUR TET does an exceptional job at what he does best. He takes GRIMES' angelic vocal track and create a whole new world around it, pushing it far out into reverb-laden depths, into a sea of strange and staggered percussion samples, whilst managing to keep everything tightly tethered to a house vibe.

The vocal parts, along with the percussions, float in and out of the track, creating peaks and troughs in unlikely places, but keeping an entrancing hold over the listener.

In short, to accurately summarise, all I can say is this: Daaaaang, FOUR TET, you've done it again.
