Live Review: WATCH: ASAP Ferg 'Hood Pope' (Official Video)

8 January 2014 | 3:03 pm | Nick Luke

ASAP MOB member ASAP FERG unleashes his official video clip for his track 'Hood Pope' from his debut album 'Trap Lord'.

Make way for hood royalty, folks. Fergenstein is in the building. ASAP FERG has released the official video for his tune 'Hood Pope' from his debut solo record. Expect lots of Nike Air, Jeeps, 40 Oz. Malt Liquor, and Bodegas.

Shot in Brooklyn, 'Hood Pope' follows ASAP FERG through the streets of New York on top of a black Jeep, preaching the words of the trap lord. The camera leads us through the back alleys and projects of Brooklyn. Imagery following FERG's lyrical content fills the screen, whilst FERG preaches the word of street-life in inner city urban New York.

Lots of pseudo-religious imagery is shown here, with images of baptisms being interwoven with frames of A$AP MOB WORLDWIDE labels. The clip is even so bold as to conclude the clip with a stark vignette of A$AP FERG dressed in clerical robes ascending into the sky.

One thing's for sure though, A$AP FERG's video clip for 'Hood Pope' stays true to the poignant aesthetic and sound conveyed within his debut album 'Trap Lord', no matter how overzealous or overused some of the motifs within the scenes may be.
