Live Review: LISTEN: Alex Metric & Oliver 'Hope'

25 March 2014 | 3:30 pm | Hannah Galvin

Alex Metric and Oliver have worked recently together to produce 'Hope' - the leading single from Metric's forthcoming EP.

Innovative producer ALEX METRIC will be dropping his Hope EP late next month. With fans craving it's entirety, he's just premiered the lead single with Annie Mac on BBC Radio 1.

With production help from Fool's Gold duo OLIVER (having recently released their Mechanical Remixes EP)  'Hope' has come out sounding extraordinarily large. Impossible to sit still during its four minute life span, the club veteran compiles v0cal samples, great use of the drum machine and chains of synths that plunge, rip, shiver and leap; living in a unit to create a highly punchy and alerting dance track.

Involving itself with pace changes and restructuring at certain moments throughout, 'Hope' gleams a triumphant life, raising very high expectations for the EP's entire listening experience.

Alex Metric's 'Hope' leads his forthcoming EP sharing the same title; available through OWSLA (Phonat, Crookers) on Monday, 21st April.

The track samples a 1994 cut from OLD SKOOL titled 'Cauz I'm Learn'.
