Live Review: LISTEN: Broods 'Bridges' (High Hoops Edition)

28 March 2014 | 11:35 am | Lauren Payne

Auckland producer High Hoops has remixed Broods' track 'Bridges' proving that Lorde isn't the only amazing New Zealand musician.

New Zealand brother-and-sister duo BROODS have been slowly emerging for some time now and have already embarked on tours throughout Australia and the United States with their track 'Bridges' has become one of their most popular releases.

Another New Zealand act has been ready to take over our shores for quite a while and now that he has remixed BROODS' track 'Bridges', we might see him over here for a few shows hopefully very soon.

HIGH HOOPS is a producer from Auckland who has been bubbling around his hometown creating ethereal tracks that are not dissimilar to the the work of TINCTURE. This artist uses a lot of soft and beaming synths to dance alongside the distorted vocals that ooze beautifully through each release. His track 'Magic Rain' is probably the best representation of his talents and now his remix of 'Bridges' will make everyone remember his name.

The original mix to 'Bridges' is already a delightful electronic pop track with the vocals of Georgia Nott traversing the synth melody and just carrying the track to great heights. HIGH HOOPS has added  a harder edge to 'Bridges' and also a sweeter mix of synths. Each synth beams brightly throughout the track making 'Bridges' sound like a ray of sun which we sorely miss from the summer months. A funky, slightly tribal, percussion set has also been added  making things sound a bit more natural which seems ti give the track  a brand new life.

BROODS are currently touring the United States like a variety of other musicians artists who have all hung around after the famous SXSW Music Conference wrapped up.
