Live Review: LISTEN: Kirin J Callinan 'Constant Craving' ft. Sophia Brous (K.D Lang Cover)

For those old enough to remember the year 1992, you may remember K.D LANG being highly praised for her track 'Constant Craving'.

LANG won a series of awards for the track and it goes down as one of her biggest hits ever. Now think back to the first time you listened to that track, did you ever think it would be covered by someone as unique as KIRIN J CALLINAN?

The singer recorded a very fresh cover of 'Constant Craving' and it sounds like something that has just crawled out from underneath your bed. Also using the light vocals of Melbourne singer SOPHIA BROUS, KIRIN J CALLINAN's cover is something that none would have expected to emerge.

KIRIN J CALLINAN has always been a more experimental artist. With his album Embracism wowing listeners when it was released last year, the musician  became someone who was pushing the boundaries of dance music. With his low brooding vocals and ear for intricate melodies, the man has got something you don't see in many artists these days and it shows on 'Constant Craving'.

Opening with some very deep rave synths, CALLINAN's cover of 'Constant Craving' has a new industrial tone to it and paired with his deep vocals, it sounds even darker. Drum machines rage on through the track and when SOPHIA BROUS' vocals come in, the track seems slightly lighter until the harmony between both vocalists bursts out. The harmony sounds very eerie whilst drawing you into the track even more. The track is larger that you thought it could be, this is 'Constant Craving' in a brand new light.

KIRIN J CALLINAN is currently touring the United States and will hopefully be releasing some new material in the not to distant future, so watch this space.
