STREAM: Moullinex 'Love Magnetic' EP

13 June 2014 | 1:52 pm | Lauren Payne

Moullinex has emerged with a new EP that features two amazing tracks.

MOULLINEX has returned with a brand new EP that will no doubt be played quite a bit over the next few months. The Portuguese producer knows how to create some wonderful music and this new EP brings his latest single 'Love Magnetic' into the world with it's great b-side single, 'Time And Tide'.

MOULLINEX's unique nu-disco tracks have helped him stand out from all of the emerging producers across the globe. The man has a sound that no one has come close to imitating and with his new EP out in the world this month, he will be showing the world why he is one of the greats.

The EP opens with it's title track and it's definitely a good listen. Beginning with an upbeat drum track, 'Love Magnetic' slowly builds itself up with the beat, deep percussion samples and bright synths. The disco vibe is definitely apparent and the vocal track that overlays the melody tends to blend well with the mix rather than just hovering above it.

'Love Magnetic' has a very upbeat atmosphere that you are instantly drawn to. It's slight experimental edge gives it something we haven't heard from MOULLINEX much and feels refreshing to hear.

The first track on the EP raises the bar pretty high and so when the song suddenly changes, you're left to hope that the second instalment will be just as sweet. Luckily MOULLINEX delivers a banger b-side.

'Time And Tide' keeps just as cool as the name suggests as it opens with a very steady synth melody. A series of sharp synths drift in and out as the song builds but still keeps to a very solid melody with a single sample beaming throughout it. 'Time And Tide' keeps very calm and more and more synths are added into it's overall mix. The track becomes very dancey with the disco influence being more apparent only in it's beginnings. It's a brilliant instrumental track to close the EP with and wraps the whole thing together very nicely.

The Love Magnetic EP is being released through Gomma Records on June 21 and will be a new staple in your disco collection.
