Live Review: Baio 'On&On&On&On'

Chris Baio has returned with the title track of his brand new EP.

Chris Baio has returned from a long spout of recording to release his brand new solo single 'On&On&On&On'. The bassist and producer has been off our radars since the release of his last EP Mira but he has assured us that he has most definitely been busy during his absence.

It's not just a new single that BAIO is releasing this month, there is also a brand new EP and 'On&On&On&On' is to be it's title track.

There isn't a hell of a lot of info about the new EP just yet, the only thing we know right now is that it will be released through Club Mod, the party centre of Modular People. 'On&On&On&On' captures a very bright and ethereal sound that we've come to expect from BAIO, along with a few experimental tweaks. The track gives off summery vibes that definitely suit us since warm weather has finally settled in here in Aus.

Light percussion dances its way across 'On&On&On&On' as the soft melody floats along in its own time. The track feels easy and very natural as it's melody has a steady pace and its synths aren't pushing their way through it with any kind of force, the ease their way through with the melody giving way to them. A deeper crunch of synths highlight the chorus-like portion of the track whereas chopped synths that have no decipherable words, fill in the spaces were a verse would no doubt be.

'On&On&On&On' seems to have a structure not dissimilar to your general electronic track, but it still feels comfortable and completely like BAIO. The new EP will be available to purchase through Club Mod on September 29 as both digital and vinyl copies.
