Live Review: Montgomery 'Not Around'
Montgomery has released an eighties influenced sunrise called 'Not Around'.
MONTGOMERY may be the wildcard over at I OH YOU, but the girl has some serious pipes on her and spectacular production skills. We loved 'Pinata' when it came out so it's kind of inevitable that we'd fall in love with 'Not Around' as well.
The track has a bit of an eighties flavour to it. The synths are reminiscent of the days when glitter and hair bands ruled the world, but luckily MONTGOMERY has tamed that sound and placed it into a track where it won't run wild. 'Not Around' is just as light and delicate and MONTGOMERY's previous singles but it also has kind of an edge that makes it feel slightly harder than what we've heard before.
The synths are most definitely the leaders of this track. We have the deeper synths creating a nice base for the track, as well as the previously mentioned eighties nostalgia. Lighter synths seem to humm above the initial layer and give the track a brighter atmosphere. When these synths are introduced, 'Not Around' seems to break out of a certain place and rise into another; feeling like a track that began when it was still dark outside and finishes when the sun has finally risen.

MONTGOMERY still has so much to prove to the world but we can tell you right now that her angelic voice, emotional lyrics and brilliant production will all tie together and create a bombshell of talent just waiting to hit us all.
